Montreal, December 17th, 2024 • The Montréal Roses are very proud to announce the arrival of Latifah Abdu to the team. The professional player is the first signing in Roses FC history and one of the first to believe in the project. Latifah Abdu is coming home after four years spent in Europe in the Arkema Première Ligue, the highest division of women’s soccer in France. This signing was made possible thanks to the support of FASKEN, founding partner of the club and great supporter of our vision for women’s soccer in Montreal.

"Latifah embodies unshakeable determination, remarkable speed, and immense potential. At the very beginning of the project, I met a committed player who believed in the team long before anything took shape,” said Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director. “Her speed, her accurate delivery, and her ability to create opportunities on the pitch will make all the difference. Competitive and driven by a strong team spirit, Latifah will reinforce the team’s dynamic, while bringing her versatility, both in attack and on defence.”

A rising star, Latifah Abdu is coming back to shine in her home town as part of the Northern Super League, the new Canadian women’s professional soccer league. With her already impressive track record, she is an incredible asset for the Roses FC and is sure to contribute to its success and reputation. The 23-year-old forward who was a member of the Canadian national team in 2023, is coming home to Montreal, just in time to enjoy the holidays with her family!

LATIFAH ABDU: DETERMINATION, PRECISE STRIKES, AND THE ABILITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN KEY MOMENTS

Originally from Montreal, Latifah Abdu discovered her passion for soccer very young while playing with her brother. She started to play with the Lachine Soccer Club, before honing her skills with Lakeshore SC. Her talent quickly prevailed, leading to an exceptional career that would bring her to play in France’s top women’s soccer league.

In 2018 and 2019, Latifah played in the Première ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ) with the Lakers du Lac Saint-Louis and CS Monteuil. Her promising debut propelled her into the professional world where she signed with French club Soyaux in 2020, beginning her adventure in the elite Arkema Première Ligue.

Back in Canada in 2021, she joined CS Mont-Royal Outremont, where she caused a sensation by winning the Golden Boot award and being named third best player in the PLSQ. The following year, Latifah returned to France to represent Metz, before joining Strasbourg, where she marked an unforgettable hat-trick against her former club in January 2023. In 2023, she signed with the Dijon FCO and in 2024, she continued her progression by signing with En Avant Guingamp.
