ROSES MIDFIELDER RETURNS TO STADE SAPUTO ON OCTOBER 9
The Montréal Roses are proud to announce that midfielder Marie-Yasmine “Mimi” Alidou has been selected to Canada’s Women’s National Team for the upcoming FIFA international window. Canada will host Denmark for two marquee friendly matches: Friday, October 9 at Stade Saputo in Montréal, followed by Monday, October 12 at BMO Field in Toronto.
The two-match series serves as Canada’s final preparation window ahead of November’s Concacaf W Championship, which acts as the official qualifier for both the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and the LA28 Olympic Games. These fixtures will also mark the national team’s first home matches in over a year.
The opening match carries exceptional significance for Alidou. Born and raised in Montreal, she will step back onto the Stade Saputo pitch just six weeks after representing the Roses in their historic August 29 fixture before a Northern Super League record crowd of 17,077.
Returning to her hometown this summer following successful spells in Europe and the NWSL, the midfielder quickly established herself as a key contributor for the Roses, netting three goals and one assist since joining the club. Formerly of the Portland Thorns and Benfica - where she finished as joint top scorer in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and led her club with 26 goals in 2023-24 - Alidou holds 22 caps and 6 goals for Canada.
