The Montréal Roses are pleased to announce the signing of defender Anne-Valérie Seto, who joins the club following her first professional season with Halifax Tides FC.

The 23-year-old Montreal native returns to her hometown after a standout four-year career at the University of Memphis (2021-2024), where she appeared in 67 matches and recorded 8 goals and 5 assists. In 2025, Seto began her professional career with Halifax, playing 388 minutes in the Northern Super League.

Seto distinguished herself at the collegiate level with excellence both on the field and in the classroom. She was named to the All-AAC Second Team in 2024 and earned three consecutive AAC All-Academic Team selections (2022, 2023, 2024). She also competed in two NCAA Sweet Sixteen tournaments, including Memphis' historic 2023 campaign that finished with a 20-2 record.

Developed in Montreal, Seto attended Collège Notre-Dame before transferring to Collège de Montréal for her final year of high school, where she joined the CNHP REX program. She won the Quebec U17 Provincial Championship in 2020 and played for CS Mont-Royal Outremont in the Première ligue de soccer du Québec in 2022.

"Anne-Valérie is a Montreal product coming home with great experience and an impressive résumé," said Marinette Pichon, sporting director of the Montréal Roses. "She’s a midfielder by trade, but she has qualities that allow her to play as a centre-back for us, including good ability to drive forward with the ball, pace, and an excellent reading of the game. She excelled at the collegiate level, she’s already had a taste of the NSL with Halifax, and she understands what it means to represent her city. She’ll bring depth and versatility to our group."

"Representing my city at the highest level is a dream come true," said Seto. "I grew up here, I learned to play here, and being able to come back with the Roses in a professional environment of this quality is truly special. I can't wait to contribute to the team's success and excite the fans in Montreal."

Following this transaction, the Roses now have 24 players under contract for the 2026 season. In the Northern Super League, teams can carry between 20 and 27 players, with a salary cap of $1.6 million per club. Each club has eight international roster spots.
