Broadcast: TSN, RDS Info, ESPN+

The Montréal Roses begin their postseason run on Sunday afternoon in British Columbia against Vancouver Rise FC, the reigning Northern Super League champions. It is the first of two legs in the semifinals, with the aggregate score deciding the winner.

The second leg takes place on Sunday, November 8 at 4 p.m. at Stade Boréale, where the Roses will host a postseason match with home-field advantage for the first time in club history. The winner advances to the November 14 final at TD Place in Ottawa for the Diana B. Matheson Cup.

Regular-Season Champions Against Reigning Champions

The Roses enter the playoffs on top of the league. Their 12-4-9 record and 45 points earned them the Supporters’ Shield, the first trophy in club history, secured on October 23 at Stade Boréale.

Montreal finished the season without scoring the most goals or conceding the fewest, but with 43 goals for and 27 against, the Roses posted the best goal difference in the league at +17, proving that collective balance drove their success.

Across from them, Vancouver Rise FC, champions in 2025, qualified on the final matchday. A 3-2 win over Calgary Wild FC on October 25 brought them within range, before a 1-1 draw between Halifax and Toronto the following day secured fourth place.

A Series Unlike Any Other

The five meetings between these clubs this season produced 26 goals, averaging more than five per match. No other pairing in the league came close to that level of entertainment.

  • May 2: 4-0 win for the Roses at Stade Boréale
  • May 30: 3-2 win for Vancouver at Stade Boréale
  • July 4: 5-1 win for Montreal at Stade Boréale
  • July 29: 4-3 win for Montreal in Vancouver
  • September 19: 2-2 draw in Vancouver

The season series finished with three Montreal wins, one defeat, and one draw, with 17 goals scored against 9 conceded. Notably, the Roses have not lost in Vancouver this season.

Contrasting Form

Montreal enters on a 10-match unbeaten run, tying the league record. The Roses have not lost since Maryse Bard-Martel took charge ahead of the August 16 match in Toronto.

Vancouver arrives by a different road. The Rise lost three of their last five matches, including a 5-2 defeat at Ottawa on October 18 and a 3-1 loss at Calgary on September 27. The defending champions qualified with a losing record (9-12-4) and a goal difference of -8. They are also the most volatile team in the league, scoring 47 goals (second-highest in the NSL) while conceding 55, tied for the most in the circuit.

Key Players

Jessica De Filippo finished the regular season at the top of the league with 13 goals, claiming the Golden Boot. Elyse Bennett finished second with 11, leading the Roses in both goals and shots on target.

Meanwhile, Lisa Pechersky will face the club she won the 2025 championship with. In her debut season in Montreal, she leads the team in tackles and assists.
