ROSES CO-CAPTAIN TO FACE SLOVAKIA IN PIVOTAL TWO-MATCH SERIES

Montréal Roses forward and co-captain Tanya Boychuk has been named to the Ukrainian Women’s National Team roster for the European play-offs of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™.  She will join the national team camp from October 3 to 14. 

Born in Edmonton to a father from Kolomya who arrived in Canada in the 1990s, Boychuk obtained her Ukrainian citizenship in 2025 and earned her first call-up in June of that year. She has since become a regular fixture in the squad, taking part in the team’s training camp in Spain in the fall of 2025, as well as the qualifying matches against Iceland, Spain, and England. 

“Wearing this jersey and representing Ukraine is a profound honour for me and my entire family,” said Tanya Boychuk. “To compete in matches of this magnitude, with the ultimate dream of taking Ukraine to the World Cup on the line, is what we work for every single day. This is a defining moment in my career, and I approach it with immense pride.”

Ukraine is entering the European play-off stage to earn its ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™. To secure qualification, the Ukrainian squad must advance through two consecutive two-legged play-off rounds. 

Ukraine will first take on Slovakia in a two-match series: 

• Friday, October 9: Slovakia vs. Ukraine (in Prešov)
• Tuesday, October 13: Ukraine vs Slovakia (in Košice)

Fans can show their support for Boychuk before her departure for Europe at the Roses’ next home match on Friday, October 2, at 7:00 PM at Stade Boréale, as Montreal hosts Ottawa Rapid FC in a crucial battle for top spot in the standings.
