Jodi’s bio

Birth Date: January 17, 2003

Birth Place: Pembroke Pines, Florida

Jersey Number: 17

Playing Position: Defender

Growing up in South Florida, Jodi Smith’s passion for soccer was nurtured by her mother, Michelle Smith, the head women’s soccer coach at St. Thomas University. Jodi was introduced to the sport at three years old when her mom enrolled her in tryouts, and she began her career with Miami Lakes United, where she developed her foundational skills. She continued with Miami Lakes until her senior year, after which she joined Team Boca Soccer Club.

The 5’7” defender’s university career is marked by consistent excellence at Florida Atlantic University. In 2021, she earned a spot on the All-Conference USA Freshman Team, and in 2023 and 2024, she was named to the AAC All-Conference Second Team. Over four years, Smith played an impressive 6,697 minutes across 77 games, scoring one goal in 2021 and two in 2024. Her proudest soccer moment remains winning a national championship with Team Boca in 2021.

Beyond the field, Jodi is committed to giving back to the soccer community. She regularly coaches at camps, inspiring young players to pursue their dreams and discover their own love for the game. Her dedication to mentorship reflects the values instilled in her by her family, particularly her mother, whose coaching career has been a lifelong inspiration.

The 21-year-old’s personality shines through in her pre-game rituals and hobbies. She never steps onto the pitch without a pre-match nap and a playlist of hype music. Off the field, she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, playing card games, and spending time with her friends, family, and church community. She’s also an unapologetic fan of pineapple on pizza.

In joining the Montréal Roses, Smith is eager to take on new challenges and push herself and her team to new heights. This opportunity represents an exciting chapter in her career, as she integrates into a new culture and contributes to the success of a new club in a new league. Determined to help the Roses thrive in their inaugural season, Jodi has her sights set on leading the team to a championship victory.
