Lucy Cappadona

Bringing leadership and defensive strength to the team, from Marlborough, Massachusetts, Lucy Cappadona previously played for the University of Connecticut, where she was a team captain and earned multiple All-BIG EAST honors. Throughout her collegiate career, the defender played 90 matches, anchored a defense with impressive shutout records, and contributed crucial goals, including a game-winner in the NCAA First Round. Her performances earned her recognition as a key player in UConn's defensive lineup, helping the team reach significant milestones. 

Her love for soccer began in childhood, inspired by her family’s encouragement. From her earliest years on the field, she displayed determination and a deep passion for the game, which only grew stronger as she progressed through competitive levels. At UConn, she embraced a leadership role, helping her team succeed both on and off the field. Scoring the game-winning goal in her freshman year to advance to the playoffs remains one of her proudest moments. 

Off the field, Lucy is passionate about giving back, having worked with Special Olympics and reading to children in Connecticut communities. She values the opportunity to inspire and support young athletes, understanding the impact that mentorship can have. A dedicated competitor, she admires Julie Ertz for her relentless work ethic and influence on the game. Beyond soccer, Lucy enjoys cooking and watching baking shows, finding creativity and relaxation in the kitchen. 

Joining the Montréal Roses is an opportunity for Cappadona to challenge herself, grow as a professional, and embrace a new community. She is eager to push her limits, learn from new experiences, and contribute to the team’s success.
