HOW THE PLAYOFFS WORK
Four teams, two two-legged semifinals, one championship match.
THE TOP FOUR
The four clubs with the most points at the end of the regular season advance to the playoffs.
THE SEMIFINALS
1st vs. 4th, 2nd vs. 3rd. Each semifinal is played over two matches, one at each team’s stadium.
THE FINAL
One match for the Diana B. Matheson Cup, on November 14 at TD Place in Ottawa.
The higher-seeded team hosts the second leg, which decides the series.
AGGREGATE SCORE
Goals from both matches are added together. The team with the most goals advances to the final.
IF THE ROSES FINISH...
Select a position to see the opponent, the order of the matches and which one the Roses would play at Stade Boréale.
VS. THE 4TH-PLACE TEAM
The most favourable scenario. The Roses would face the lowest-seeded team in the playoffs.
VS. THE 3RD-PLACE TEAM
The Roses would face the third-place team and retain the advantage of hosting the second leg.
VS. THE 2ND-PLACE TEAM
The Roses would begin the series at Stade Boréale before playing the second leg away.
VS. THE 1ST-PLACE TEAM
The Roses would host the first match before concluding the series away against the team that finished first.
THE SCHEDULE
Two regular-season matches remain and will determine the final standings. The playoffs begin immediately after.
HALIFAX TIDES
Away at Wanderers Grounds.
OTTAWA RAPID FC
At Stade Boréale. The final match of the regular season, with the Supporters’ Shield potentially on the line.
SEMIFINALS, FIRST LEG
One semifinal is played each night.
SEMIFINALS, SECOND LEG
If the Roses finish 1st or 2nd, this is the match they would play at Stade Boréale.
THE NSL FINAL
At TD Place in Ottawa. One match for the Diana B. Matheson Cup.
The semifinal dates are set by the league. The allocation of matches between these dates will be confirmed once the final standings are established.
WHAT IF THERE’S A TIE?
The standings aren’t determined by points alone. The NSL applies a series of criteria, in this specific order, once all regular-season matches have been played.
THE EIGHT CRITERIA, IN ORDER +
- Number of wins.
- Goal difference.
- Goals scored.
- Head-to-head results.
- Goal difference in head-to-head matches.
- Goals scored in head-to-head matches.
- Applicable disciplinary criteria.
- Drawing of lots, if necessary.
